Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday” Joins Kanye West On November 22 New Releases

The Monday before Black Friday gets a splash of pink, as Nicki Minaj will go head-to-head with some of the year’s biggest albums.

The latest star of Lil Wayne’s Young Money imprint, DXnext alum Nicki Minaj, is slated to drop her Pink Friday debut next month. With initial plans for November 23, Minaj has announced that her release will advance to the popular Monday-before-Thanksgiving release date of November.

The announcement was made by Rap-Up.com, who frequently is in contact with the Young Money camp.

The move will make Minaj’s debut a direct competitor with the likes of Kanye West’s upcoming release, as well as expected works from Cassidy, Akon and a Jay-Z compilation set to included unreleased tracks.

Pac Div & Dom Kennedy Producer Polyester Signs With iHipHop Distribution

The buzzing west coaster links a deal with a New York imprint, and tells DX why he’s stepping to the front.

Los Angeles, California-based producer Polyester has worked extensively with DXnext alums Pac Div (a/k/a Pacific Division), as well as fellow budding west coast artist Dom Kennedy. With additional collaborations in the past with Sa-Ra Creative Partners, it was announced this week that Polyester has signed a deal with Frank Radio / iHipHop Distribution. Previously, Frank Radio was responsible for releases last year from U-God and Grand Puba.

With December 7’s digital and physical release of Peace, Love & Unity, Polyester will deliver his first solo works, which features Dom Kennedy on the single “Weekend Chicc.”

“I’ve stayed behind the scenes so long as a producer and engineer that just now I’m realizing the importance of stepping out and saying, ‘yeah, I did that,” he told HipHopDX.com. “That’s bas ically what the story is.”

Polyester will perform on October 21st at the CMJ Showcase with GZA and DJ Premier.

Ryan Cameron enlists T.I.’s help to prevent a suicidal man from leaping off a downtown Atlanta building.

In the midst of possibly facing a return to jail for his September drug possession charges, T.I. reportedly helped persuade a suicidal jumper to avoid leaping from the top of a radio station’s building. TMZ reports that Tip called V-103 on-air personality Ryan Cameron after hearing about a jumper atop the building where Cameron’s radio show is hosted. Cameron suggested T.I. head over, where the rapper recorded a heartfelt video message that authorities played for the man atop the roof. After being talked down T.I. also met with the man, who will not face charges from V-103.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health suicide was the tenth leading cause of death in America in 2007, accounting for 34,598 deaths. The overall rate was 11.3 suicide deaths per 100,000 people, with an estimated 11 attempted suicides occur per every suicide death.

In his latest, and unexpected ninth letter to fans (via WeezyThanxYou.com), Lil Wayne not only acknowledged his wrong-doings, but he said it may affect his music when he is expected to be released next month, November 4. “I admit, I fu#ked [sic] up and now I must deal with the consequences,” wrote Wayne. “Obviously, this gives me a lot of time to myself and a lot of alone time with my thoughts, which can be creatively dangerous.”

The rapper who just released I Am Not A Human Being two weeks ago, the week of his birthday, closed his letter in saying, “Talent is best nurtured in solitude.”

The member of the Four HRSMN and Golden State Warriors has released product throughout the last 10 years with an assortment of independent imprints, including New York’s Babygrande Records. Throughout the last four years, the longtime Priority Records artist was also rumored to be close to signing with Aftermath and G-Unit Records.

Jay-Z to star in ‘Vote Again 2010’ PSA, Keith Murray clears up 2Pac altercation comments, and Joaquin Dean to launch Ruff Ryders Indy.

Rapper/Hip Hop entrepreneur Jay-Z will soon encourage the nation to take part in midterm elections when a PSA featuring the rapper airs on CBS, Fuse, and a number of other major networks.

Jay-Z teamed up with the nonpartisan organization HeadCount for the PSA which is part of their “Vote Again 2010” campaign.

“In a year when there is such negativity in this country, Jay-Z’s positive message is jolting and inspirational. When he told the crowd at Bonnaroo ‘We changed the world,’ it was a truly electric moment,” said Andy Bernstein, HeadCount executive director, in a statement. “Thousands of people got goosebumps, and I knew it would make an unforgettable PSA.”

The viral version of the “Vote Again 2010” PSA featuring Jay-Z can currently be seen on YouTube.

In other Hip Hop news, rapper Keith Murray recently cleared up a few controversial comments he made outside of New York City’s B.B. Kings in regards to an alleged scuffle between himself and 2Pac in Las Vegas.

“I just want to say one thing, I did not disrespect Tupac in that clip,” Murray explained to QTheQuestion.com.  “All I was doing was telling people about a period in history that they don’t know. When ‘I Shot You’ came out and Pac got shot he thought I was talking about him. I seen him in the House of Blues, we shook hands, we hugged, smiled and walked away in peace. I would never disrespect Tupac and I apologize if people think that.”

Joaquin Dean, founder of Ruff Ryders Entertainment and uncle to producer Swizz Beatz, has just announced the creation of Ruff Ryders Indy.

Unlike the majority of independent labels Ruff Ryders Indy will offer a “How To Become Your Own CEO” program where candidates will pay “up to $250,000” for publishing, marketing, street promotion, and more.

“There’s people out there-if they don’t have the money, they will find the money,” said Dean in a statement. “We’re going to build a brand around you. Not just as an artist. We’ll help you develop your business plan so that you can go and get investors get involved and support you.”

A trial run for Ruff Ryder Indy’s “How to Become Your Own CEO” program reportedly pulled in half a million applicants.
